Ian began his training in 1999 under Sakasem "The Punisher" Kanthawong, a former Fairtex fighter and instructor at the Siam Muay Thai camp in Indianapolis. As a fighter, he defeated defending Indiana state Golden Gloves champion (2001) and the current (2001) National Muay Thai champion at his weight class. He also began his time as an assistant instructor with Sakasem.

He then continued his Muay Thai instruction under former Lumpinee Champ and World Muay Thai Council champion Matee "Dragon Leg" Jedeepitak, whose masterfully technical and defensive style is a wonderful addition to anyone wanting to learn the true art of Muay Thai.

Ian has instructed numerous amateur and professional Muay Thai and MMA fighters in the true art of Muay Thai. Students will learn the full spectrum of Muay Thai, including punches, kicks, knees, elbows, throws, offensive fighting, defensive fighting, and effective fighting strategies.

A true practitioner of Muay Thai, Ian will work to improve students both mentally, and physically, as they learn the true art of Muay Thai.

Ian is also a Boxing instructor and protégé to Wes Ramey, having worked with him for the past 6 years. He assists Wes in training both Professional and Amateur fighters at Top Level Gym.
